When Is King Releasing?
King is officially scheduled to release in cinemas on December 24, 2026.
The date was formally announced through Red Chillies Entertainment’s promotional campaign, and the studio’s official movie page now displays December 24 as the release date.
Red Chillies Entertainment — King official film page
The Christmas-week release gives the film a major holiday theatrical window, but the date itself should be treated as the important confirmed fact rather than a guarantee of box-office performance.
Shah Rukh Khan Leads King
Shah Rukh Khan is the central star of King.
Red Chillies Entertainment’s official page identifies him as the film’s confirmed cast lead, while the title reveal positioned the movie around a darker, more aggressive screen persona.
The production described the project as a new Shah Rukh Khan experience and presented him in a silver-haired action look during the initial title reveal.

Siddharth Anand Directs King
Siddharth Anand is directing King.
That makes the film another major collaboration between Anand and Shah Rukh Khan after Pathaan.
Red Chillies described King as a slick, high-octane action entertainer, which fits closely with Anand’s established large-scale action filmmaking style.
The current official material still avoids revealing too much of the story, so specific plot claims beyond the announced action-thriller setup should be treated cautiously until a full synopsis is released.
King Release-Date Announcement
The December 24 date was not left as industry speculation.
Red Chillies Entertainment released an official date-announcement video confirming that King would arrive in cinemas on 24 December 2026.
Red Chillies Entertainment — King Date Announcement
The announcement focused almost entirely on Shah Rukh Khan’s screen presence and the film’s action identity rather than revealing the plot.
That was a deliberate promotional choice: the campaign established the theatrical date and tone first, while keeping the story largely under wraps.
Who Is in the King Cast?
The current Red Chillies movie page explicitly confirms Shah Rukh Khan.
BookMyShow’s current theatrical listing also names:
Shah Rukh Khan
Suhana Khan
Abhishek Bachchan
Deepika Padukone

Because different databases and reports list a wider ensemble, it is better to separate directly confirmed studio information from secondary cast listings rather than presenting every circulating name as equally official.
Suhana Khan in King
Suhana Khan is currently listed by BookMyShow as part of the cast.
Her presence is especially notable because King places her in a major theatrical project alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
However, Red Chillies’ official movie page currently keeps its public cast section minimal, listing Shah Rukh Khan alone.
That means the safest editorial approach is to say Suhana is part of current theatrical cast listings without inventing details about her role until the studio publishes a fuller official cast breakdown.
Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan
BookMyShow also lists Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan among the cast.
Both names make the project even more notable, but specific role descriptions should not be guessed.
Current promotional material has focused primarily on Shah Rukh Khan and the film’s release date rather than explaining character relationships.
For readers, that distinction matters: cast presence may be listed, while exact roles can remain undisclosed.
What Is King About?
A complete official plot synopsis has not yet been released publicly through the Red Chillies movie page.
The studio’s own announcement describes King as a large-scale action entertainer built around Shah Rukh Khan’s intense screen persona.
The title reveal showed him in a darker, stylised action look and framed the film around fear, reputation and dominance.
That gives audiences a clear sense of tone, but not enough information to responsibly invent a detailed storyline.
King’s Action Style
The early material strongly suggests that action will be central to the film.
Red Chillies called the project a high-octane entertainer and positioned Siddharth Anand’s direction as one of its defining elements.
The release-date footage showed Shah Rukh Khan bloodied in a snowy setting, reinforcing a harder visual tone than a conventional romantic or family film.
The Indian Express also reported the December 24 release from the official teaser campaign.

Shah Rukh Khan’s First Dialogue From King
In September 2026, Shah Rukh Khan also shared the first dialogue-related promotional tease from the film.
Cinema Express reported that during an #AskSRK session he again confirmed the December 24 release date before Red Chillies shared a short dialogue video.

That update reinforced the fact that the promotional campaign is now moving beyond title and release-date material into character-driven marketing.
Is King a Pathaan Sequel?
No official source has described King as a sequel to Pathaan.
The connection is that Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are working together again.
That creative reunion naturally invites comparisons, but King should be treated as its own film unless Red Chillies or the filmmakers officially connect it to another franchise.
Is King Releasing on OTT?
No confirmed OTT release date or streaming platform should be presented as official at this stage.
The current public campaign is focused on the theatrical release scheduled for December 24, 2026.
Any specific OTT platform or post-theatrical date circulating without a formal announcement should be treated as unconfirmed.
Why King Is a Major 2026 Release
The interest around King comes from several factors working together:
Shah Rukh Khan in a New Action Avatar
The title reveal presents him in a sharper, darker look than the promotional identity of many of his earlier films.
Siddharth Anand’s Return With SRK
Their previous collaboration created immediate expectations around action scale and visual presentation.
Christmas Release Window
December 24 gives the film one of the year’s biggest holiday release positions.
High-Profile Supporting Cast Listings
Current theatrical listings include Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan.
The scale is obvious, but actual audience response and box-office performance should only be judged after release.
