BookMyShow’s current listing independently records the same date.

The final theatrical campaign later moved the film to August 14.
That is why older search results and articles may still show the April date. The correct final theatrical release date is August 14, 2026.
Emraan Hashmi Returns as Shivam Pandit
The biggest reason for the sequel’s interest was Emraan Hashmi’s return as Shivam Pandit.
The original Awarapan built a long-lasting following around Shivam’s loneliness, guilt, faith and search for redemption.
Instead of introducing an unrelated protagonist, the sequel continues with the same character at a later stage in his life.
Prime Video’s synopsis describes Shivam as a former feared gangster who has withdrawn from his past until circumstances drag him into a cartel conflict in Bangkok.
That setup lets the sequel revisit the original film’s emotional themes without simply repeating the same story.
What Is Awarapan 2 About?
The sequel follows Shivam after years away from the violent life he once knew.
He has tried to leave his past behind, but a new conflict pulls him back into the underworld and forces him to confront questions of survival, love, sacrifice and redemption.
The story places him inside a Bangkok cartel war, where his attempts to remain detached become increasingly difficult.
The central question is not simply whether Shivam can defeat his enemies. It is whether he can find something worth living for after spending so long believing he had nothing left.
Awarapan 2 Cast
The official trailer credits the main cast as:
Emraan Hashmi
Disha Patani
Shabana Azmi
Suvinder Vicky
Vijayant Kohli
Atul Kumar
Aniruddh Rawal
Puran Gabbi
Prime Video also lists Shriya Saran among the wider cast associated with the film.
Disha Patani Joins the Franchise
Disha Patani is one of the major new additions to the Awarapan story.
Her presence gives the sequel a new emotional relationship around Shivam while avoiding an attempt to recreate the exact character dynamics of the 2007 film.
The trailer positions her inside Shivam’s return to violence and the emotional conflict driving the sequel.
Rather than treating the film as nostalgia alone, the new cast allows the franchise to expand around an older version of Shivam.
Shabana Azmi Adds Dramatic Weight
Shabana Azmi is another notable member of the ensemble.
Her inclusion gives the film additional dramatic depth beyond its central action-romance setup.
The supporting cast also includes Suvinder Vicky and Puran Gabbi, giving the sequel a substantial group of characters around Hashmi and Patani.
Nitin Kakkar Directs Awarapan 2
Nitin Kakkar directed the sequel.
Vishesh Bhatt produced the film, while Bilal Siddiqi and Vishesh Bhatt are credited as writers.
The official trailer also credits Vishnu Rao as cinematographer and Devendra Murdeshwar as editor.
That means Awarapan 2 arrives with a different filmmaking team from the original while remaining under the Vishesh Films banner.
Music Remains Important to Awarapan
Music has always been inseparable from the identity of Awarapan.
The sequel’s official credits include composers:
Mithoon
Jeet Gannguli
Amaal Mallik
Akhil Sachdeva
Wasif Ahmad
Songs such as Ve Junoon and Yeh Awarapan were released as part of the promotional campaign.
For a franchise remembered as much for its emotional soundtrack as its story, preserving that musical identity was an important part of bringing Shivam back.

Why the Sequel Matters for Emraan Hashmi Fans
Awarapan developed a cult following long after its initial theatrical run.
For many viewers, Shivam became one of Emraan Hashmi’s most memorable characters because he combined the familiar crime-film antihero with a much more vulnerable emotional arc.
Bringing the character back after nearly two decades therefore carried more weight than reviving a title only for nostalgia.
The sequel’s real test was whether an older Shivam could still feel connected to the man audiences remembered while having enough new conflict to justify another chapter.
