IPL — Official KKR vs LSG Match Report
Kolkata Knight Riders Score 181/4
KKR lost Finn Allen early, but the setback did not develop into a collapse.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi settled the innings with an 84-run second-wicket partnership.
Rahane played the more aggressive role, scoring 41 from 24 balls, while Raghuvanshi made 45 from 33.
Their partnership took Kolkata to 99 before Digvesh Singh Rathi removed Rahane.
Raghuvanshi departed soon afterwards, and Rinku Singh struggled to get going, leaving KKR at 111/4 in the 14th over.
At that point, the innings needed a strong finish.
Cameron Green and Rovman Powell provided exactly that.

Rahane and Raghuvanshi Build the Innings
After Allen fell for nine, Rahane and Raghuvanshi prevented Lucknow from taking control with the new ball.
Rahane hit four boundaries and two sixes during his 41, scoring at a strike rate above 170.
Raghuvanshi was more measured but still found five fours and two sixes.
Their partnership gave Kolkata a strong base, although losing both set batters in quick succession caused the scoring rate to slow through the middle overs.
KKR Slow Down in the Middle Overs
Lucknow's spinners pulled the game back after Rahane's dismissal.
KKR were 115/3 after 15 overs, having managed only nine runs across overs 13 to 15.
Green initially found it difficult to accelerate against spin, while Rinku Singh made only four from seven balls before Avesh Khan removed him.
For a while, 160 looked like a more realistic total than 180.
The final five overs changed that completely.
Cameron Green and Rovman Powell Finish Strongly
Green and Powell added 70 unbeaten runs for the fifth wicket.
Powell scored 39 not out from 24 balls, while Green finished unbeaten on 32 from 24.
The pair added 66 runs in the final five overs, pushing KKR from 115/3 after 15 overs to 181/4.
Powell supplied much of the late acceleration, striking four fours and two sixes.
It was enough to give Kolkata a competitive total, although the match later showed that even 181 was not completely safe at Eden Gardens.
LSG Bowling Figures

|---|---|---|---|
Mohammed Shami | 4 | 27 | 0 |

Manimaran Siddharth | 4 | 34 | 1 |
Digvesh Singh Rathi | 4 | 25 | 1 |
Avesh Khan | 4 | 44 | 1 |
Digvesh Singh Rathi was Lucknow's most economical wicket-taker, conceding only 25 from his four overs.
Shami also bowled economically despite finishing without a wicket.
LSG Start the Chase Quickly
Lucknow's chase began positively.
Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh added 41 runs in the first four overs, immediately putting pressure on Kolkata's target.
But the momentum changed almost instantly.
Vaibhav Arora dismissed Markram for 22 and then removed Marsh for 15 two balls later.
From 41/0, Lucknow suddenly slipped to 42/2.
Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni attempted to rebuild, but Pant was dismissed for 10 by Cameron Green.

Ayush Badoni Keeps Lucknow Alive
Ayush Badoni held the chase together while wickets fell around him.
He scored 54 from 34 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes.
Badoni had to balance two responsibilities: keep up with a demanding required rate and prevent Lucknow from losing all control after the early wickets.
His half-century gave LSG a route back into the match.
But the situation looked grim when Anukul Roy dismissed him immediately after he reached 54.
Lucknow were 125/6 after 14.4 overs.
Kolkata Take Control at 128/7
Mohammed Shami was the next batter to fall, caught off Sunil Narine for one.
That left Lucknow on 128/7 after 16 overs.
They needed another 54 runs from 24 balls.
At the crease were Mukul Choudhary and Avesh Khan.
On paper, Kolkata were clear favourites.
What followed completely changed the match.
Mukul Choudhary Produces a Stunning Finish
Mukul Choudhary played the innings of the night.
He finished with:
54 not out
27 balls
2 fours
7 sixes
Strike rate: 200.00
More remarkably, most of the damage came after LSG had lost their seventh wicket.
Choudhary attacked anything short and repeatedly cleared the boundary, turning an apparently lost chase into a realistic one.

The 54-Run Eighth-Wicket Partnership
Mukul Choudhary and Avesh Khan added an unbeaten 54 runs for the eighth wicket.
The partnership was highly unusual because Choudhary scored 52 of those runs from 21 balls during the stand, while Avesh contributed only one run.
Avesh's role was simple but important: survive long enough to keep Choudhary at the crease.
The official IPL match report described it as the highest eighth-wicket partnership in a successful IPL chase.
Final Over: LSG Need 14 Runs
Lucknow entered the final over needing 14 runs.
Avesh Khan took a single from the first ball, putting Choudhary on strike.
Choudhary then hit a six from the second delivery.
Two dot balls followed, bringing Kolkata back into the contest.
But Choudhary responded with another extraordinary six over deep cover.
That left LSG needing one run from the final ball.
Last-Ball Drama at Eden Gardens
The final delivery produced the most dramatic moment of the match.
Choudhary swung and missed.
But he and Avesh ran anyway.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi had a chance to complete the run-out at the striker's end, but the direct hit missed.
Choudhary completed the single.
Lucknow reached 182/7 after exactly 20 overs.
The chase was complete on the last ball.

KKR Bowling Figures
Bowler | Overs | Runs | Wickets |
|---|---|---|---|
Vaibhav Arora | 4 | 38 | 2 |
Anukul Roy | 4 | 32 | 2 |
Navdeep Saini | 3 | 37 | 0 |
Sunil Narine | 4 | 13 | 1 |
Kartik Tyagi | 3 | 31 | 1 |
Cameron Green | 2 | 28 | 1 |
Sunil Narine's spell stands out immediately.
He conceded only 13 runs in four overs and took Shami's wicket.
Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy took two wickets each, and Kolkata had Lucknow seven down.
The problem was not taking enough wickets to remove Choudhary before he reached the final over.
Why Lucknow Super Giants Won
Three phases shaped LSG's remarkable victory.
1. Ayush Badoni Prevented a Complete Collapse
His 54 kept the required target within reach despite wickets falling around him.
2. Mukul Choudhary Refused to Let the Chase Die
At 128/7, Kolkata had control of the match. Choudhary changed that with seven sixes.
3. LSG Held Their Nerve on the Final Ball
Even after Choudhary missed the final delivery, he and Avesh committed to the single and capitalised on the missed run-out.
KKR's Missed Opportunity
Kolkata did many things well.
They scored 181, reduced LSG to 128/7 and received an exceptional four-over spell from Narine.
But T20 matches can change in a handful of deliveries.
KKR could not contain Choudhary at the death, and the 54-run eighth-wicket stand turned what looked like a comfortable Kolkata position into a three-wicket defeat.
